BASF:
developing corporate community involvement in Australia
Orfeus
Research has been working with BASF, the worlds leading Chemical
company to develop and implement a corporate community involvement program
for its Australian operations. While BASF is a global leader in sustainable
development and corporate citizenship, it is working to improve the extent
and effectiveness of its social and community programs in Australia and New Zealand. This work has involved developing a business case for taking a more strategic approach to community involvement in Australia as well as undertaking extensive employee consultation through surveys and focus groups. These data and consultations have assisted in developing and implementing a series of community involvement programs and partnerships including:
- The BASF Science for Life Scholarship Program in partnership with The Smith Family
- Sponsorship and involvement with the CSIRO's Scientriffic magazine
- Sponsoring and developing a ‘Chemistry of Music' theatre program in partnership with The Song Room.
Several other community programs are also being developed throughout 2004.
